The Carpetguru's Carpet Forum: This is the place for your questions and comments
Jim,
I finally did decide on the Shaw Lastrada (T) Q0746 for our great room, stairs, hall and master b.r. I heard or think that there are 3 different grades of every carpet (hence: 3 different Lastrada's) I'm not really sure on this. Anyway, since I got the carpet store to come down $3.50 per sq. yard to meet a competitor's price, I wondered if it would be easy for him to order me a lesser grade of the Shaw Lastrada then what I had picked out and I wouldn't no the difference? I do have the specs on this piece I chose (gauge, face weight, twist, etc.) but if he gets me a sub that "looks" the same how would I know??? What I really want to do is trust the guy...but should I not have a way to "check" to know that what I wanted is what I got.

Dear Jim,
forgive me if you already received this post. I typed it while in the where you subscribe to blog area, but got no confirmation that my post was received. Though I did have to type in the squiggly line of letters and I did click on the "publish" button. Anyway, here we go again.
I am considering the Mohawk grandview pointe II carpet for great room, hall, and b.r. After reading all your information, I am concerned about the yarn twist. I want the carpet to wear well and not get that "fuzzy" look to it. I got the following specs from Mohawk and would like your opinion on them.
Pile yarn content: spun 100% nylon
Yarn twists per inch: 3.40 X 3.80
Fabric type: cut pile
Fabric treatment: weardated with repel
Gauge: 3/8
Pile height: 1.049
Stitches per inch: 5.00
Certified pile weight: 63.70 ozs.
Total weight: 100.41 ozs.
Density: 2186
Dye Method: Fluidye
Primary backing: woven polypropylene
Secondary backing: same
Pattern Repeat: none
Par: 4.00
Would you recommend this carpet? If so, please tell me what my pad options should be. Also, should I figure on having footprints and sweeper marks with this rug?
Thank you very much,
Marsha
